The Power of Thank You

We have been talking about the Two Words That Change Everything at church lately and yesterday the two words were; Thank You. At the end of the sermon our pastor talked about how we all tend to pray for things we want or need and seldom give thanks to God in prayer. He challenged us to do that this week and instead of asking for things, give thanks to God for what you have already.
My Prayer;
Dear God,
Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for leading me in the life that I live today. Thank you for bringing my husband and me together and giving us a wonderful relationship & marriage. Thank you for bringing Gavin into our lives when we least expected it. Thank you for my wonderful husband that works tirelessly to support his family. Thank you for the life growing inside of me. Thank you for giving us the opportunity for me to stay at home with our children. Thank you for allowing us to put food on the table every night. Thank you for the struggles and the ups & downs you put into our life to teach us new lessons we need to learn. Thank you for our families who have shaped us into the person we’ve become today. Thank you for ALWAYS listening to us. Thank you for teaching me morals and values. Thank you for always forgiving me when I sin. Thank you for the joy & laughter you bring into our home. Thank you for leading us to Heartland. Thank you for our growing relationship we have with you. Thank you for the friendships we have continued to make. THANK YOU, God!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I could go on & on & on thanking God for the abundance of things he has brought into my life. The big things, little things, meticulous, & careless things God has brought into my life. I am thankful for all of it because without the things he has done and given me in life I wouldn’t be where I am today & that makes me thankful.
I challenge you to do the same!

Thank you for posting this, it's something I always have to remind myself during prayer or quiet times with God. I tend to default to requests and wants/needs from God and very rarely take the time to just thank Him for everything He has always done and provided for me. I'm going to do your church's challenge this week and really focus on thanksgiving and not wants.
