The Weekend

We finished! We are finally finished with (the majority of) the baby room! Friday evening we ran out of paint to finish painting the dresser so early Saturday morning we found ourselves at Home Depot getting more paint to finish it before my mom and dad arrived that afternoon! I am very pleased with how the dresser turned out. My husband never seems to amaze me with his projects! I'll have pictures of the room soon.
After my mom and dad got here on Saturday we all went to Costco. For some odd reason my dad is secretly obsessed with Costco and REALLY wanted to go! After we got home my mom and I left to go to Babies R Us. My mom & dad wanted to get us our baby bedding for Baby V's room so we picked that up along with some accessories that matched the bedding! I am really pleased with how the baby room is coming together! Thanks Mom & Dad!
While we were gone Dave & my dad went snowshoeing behind our subdivision and Dave pulled Gavin on his snowmobile! This was the first time either of them had gone snowshoeing and they loved it! They were like kids in a candy store; they came home with smiles on their faces and stories galore! They saw 30+ deer too! Needless to say they both really want snowshoes!
Sadly this is the only picture I got all weekend - Gavin & Grandpa playing after their outdoor adventure;----------
We are in for a major snowstorm here within the next couple of days, almost 2 feet will have dropped by Wednesday! Which means; I won't be leaving our house until Thursday! Which means; I can wear my pajamas all day, everyday! I am actually looking forward to it!

The Power of Thank You

We have been talking about the Two Words That Change Everything at church lately and yesterday the two words were; Thank You. At the end of the sermon our pastor talked about how we all tend to pray for things we want or need and seldom give thanks to God in prayer. He challenged us to do that this week and instead of asking for things, give thanks to God for what you have already.
My Prayer;
Dear God,
Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for leading me in the life that I live today. Thank you for bringing my husband and me together and giving us a wonderful relationship & marriage. Thank you for bringing Gavin into our lives when we least expected it. Thank you for my wonderful husband that works tirelessly to support his family. Thank you for the life growing inside of me. Thank you for giving us the opportunity for me to stay at home with our children. Thank you for allowing us to put food on the table every night. Thank you for the struggles and the ups & downs you put into our life to teach us new lessons we need to learn. Thank you for our families who have shaped us into the person we’ve become today. Thank you for ALWAYS listening to us. Thank you for teaching me morals and values. Thank you for always forgiving me when I sin. Thank you for the joy & laughter you bring into our home. Thank you for leading us to Heartland. Thank you for our growing relationship we have with you. Thank you for the friendships we have continued to make. THANK YOU, God!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I could go on & on & on thanking God for the abundance of things he has brought into my life. The big things, little things, meticulous, & careless things God has brought into my life. I am thankful for all of it because without the things he has done and given me in life I wouldn’t be where I am today & that makes me thankful.
I challenge you to do the same!

The Bears Still Suck!

I am really looking forward to this weekend because my sister is coming tonight for the weekend! Tomorrow we are going to do some shopping & maybe work on the baby room a little! Dave got the dressed sanded and primed! Now all we have to do is paint it and put new drawer handles on it! Hopefully we can get the dresser done this weekend so we are able to fill it!
I am also excited for the football game on Sunday! We are actually going to be in the Illinois territory for the game, eek! GO PACK GO! And just remember...
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

A weekend filled with 1st's!

We had the weekend of 1st’s around here. Saturday morning we took Gavin snowboarding for his 1st time! He loved it and he did an amazing job! He had the occasional falls here and there but by the end of the afternoon he wasn’t falling at all! We are so proud of him & he is pretty proud of himself too! Mom & Dad VV came with us to take pictures of Gavin snowboarding. It was wonderful to have them there with us! Dad VV also tried his take at snowboarding for the first time too! Brace yourself for lots of pictures & two videos!
Saturday evening was filled with 1st’s too! Gavin threw up for the first time EVER! It was around 10:45, Dave & I had just fallen asleep after watching the WONDERFUL Packer Game, & we hear Gavin crying in front of our bedroom door. I looked at him and he was covering his mouth! I immediately brought him to the toilet and he threw up! He also threw up in his bed prior to that; poor kid didn’t know what hit him! After cleaning his room, giving him a bath & having him settle down a bit we were back in bed by midnight! The next morning he wasn’t able to get out of bed or move anything on his body! His muscles were so sore from snowboarding! It was probably the 1st time he has really used all of his muscles at once and he was in a lot of pain! Other than that, we had a good weekend! Yesterday we finished painting all of Gavin’s room. It turned out great and we’re really pleased with it! Now on to the Baby room, Yah!

random thoughts

I've seen so many people do posts on random thoughts lately. Never before have I written down my thoughts that randomly come to mind during the day but yesterday I tried it and here are some that I came up with; - it's hard to do. for me at least.
Random thoughts on 1/11/11
- I really wish the baby room would finish itself.
- I need to stop eating these Sour Patch Cherries before I turn into one.
- I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
- Chris Tomlin is coming in March and I REALLY want to go!
- I wish we could pick out a baby name so I could share it & stop calling this beautiful thing inside of me ‘he’.
- There are 100 more productive things I could be doing right now.
- I wish I had more accessories to accessorize with! Like jewelry, hats, fun shoes, etc… I should make a trip to Forever 21
- I’m in love with the Chai Latte single cups for our Keurig. In fact, I’m just in love with our Keurig in general!
- Ordered the crib & I am so excited for it to come, but I can’t get over that shipping was $50!
- The blueberries that are on sale at our local grocery store this week for 2/$5 are probably the best blueberries I’ve had.
- We have a doctor appointment on Friday and I’m pretty sure I’ve gained yet another 5lbs. I can’t wait to hear what our doctor has to say about it this time. Last time she told me I was gaining weight too fast.
- Darius Rucker’s new song ‘This’ is one of my favorite songs right now!
- The last time I worked at Old Navy was a few weeks ago & it was that night that another associate told me my butt was huge, she was so serious too. I started crying. She’s 17 & I wish I could have punched her in the face, but I wouldn’t do that!
- Just noticed that Dean’s Guacamole Dip only contains LESS THAT 2% OF AVOCADO!
- The majority of these random thoughts are about food. Hmm?

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 20 or so lbs
Maternity Clothes: It’s pretty much my whole wardrobe. I can still wear non maternity jeans with a belly band!
Gender: It’s a BOY, no definite name yet! I wish we would decide on a name so that we could stop referring to him as ‘he’ but in all reality we probably will not decide on a name until we see him!
Movement: Very Active
Sleep: Not good. This past week it was pretty nonexistent.
What I miss: right now it's sleeping good!
Cravings: Nothing really specific. But Culvers’ ButterBurger Swiss, with lettus, tomato & mayo is always calling my name!

Our Productive Weekend!

Last Thursday Gavin & I made a trip to IKEA with April, Caleb, & Nicole! It was so fun and we got exactly what we needed! I love IKEA and I already have a list started for the next time we go!
Here are pictures of Gavin pushing Caleb around at IKEA; We were packed in tight on the ride home! I'm pretty proud of us for getting it all in the can and not having to leave anything, or anybody behind :) Here are pictures of what it looked like;Gavin wasn't able to put his legs all the way down, so he did this the majority of the time!We got EVERYTHING cleared out of the baby room this weekend! We took apart the desk, 'shortened' it up and moved it downstairs! The guest bedroom downstairs is now the office/guest bedroom/storage room for all our stuff! Here are pictures of what it looks like now;We still need to get our headboard, art on the walls and maybe different bedding, but it's pretty much finished! The baby room is also coming along! I went through all of Gavin's clothes, 0-12months, this weekend & we did 8+ loads of laundry yesterday of baby clothes, blankets, sheets, etc...
We also picked out the paint colors this weekend and hopefully we can start painting both of the boys rooms this week! We will also order the Crib this week, hopefully, and then we will start refinishing the dresser soon! It's crazy how fast this pregnancy is going!

27 Weeks

Update;
How Far Along: 27 weeks!
Size of baby: Baby Vander Velde weighs 2lbs, like the head of cauliflower & is 14 ½ inches long!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 20 or so lbs
Maternity Clothes: It’s pretty much my whole wardrobe. I can still wear a few pairs of non maternity jeans with a belly band!
Gender: It’s a BOY, no definite name yet! We added another name last night! We will probably not decide a name until we see him!
Movement: Very Active
Sleep: Better than last week but still waking up a few times at night!
What I miss: There isn’t really anything I miss! Maybe my body ;)
Cravings: Big Meals! Ones with a main dish & like 3 sides! Ha.
Symptoms: Off & on sciatic nerve pain & lower back pain.
Best Moment of the Week: Gavin LOVES giving his brother kisses! He’ll just come up & casually kiss my tummy and then go on with what he was doing! It’s my favorite and he doing it numerous times during the day!
I am feeling VERY behind on things! I feel like I should have the room started and things ordered, but I don’t! We did start to clear out the office for the baby’s room though! We have a ‘theme’, color scheme & I also know the crib and bedding we are getting but we just need to order it! The to-do list & things to purchase is getting longer & longer as well and we really need to start to check things off faster! Hopefully we will get a lot finished this month!
