Our Sunday!

We are currently getting sleet, snow & freezing rain here in Madison! We were teased with 50 degree weather last week and now have to deal with all of the winter mess again! I am really craving Spring!
Today when we got home from church we all put our sweats on & we are staying inside the rest of the day! We got some baby toys out this afternoon and cleaned them all up so they are ready for Baby V when he is ready to play with them! FYI; I had a dream last night that we chose a name for Baby V! It will probably be the name that we pick too, crazy!
Right now it's 2pm and dinner is in the oven already! My mom got me a bean pot and I am using it for the first time and making a coke roast! We also made homemade granola today! I've been craving fruit & yogurt parfaits lately! This Granola recipe is by Alton Brown, we tweaked it a bit, but it is DELISH!Ingredients
3 cups rolled oats
1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup cashews (we left out, just because we didn't have any)
3/4 cup shredded sweet coconut (we left out)
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins
(I also added cinnamon)
Directions
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
In a large bowl, combine the oats, nuts, coconut, and brown sugar.
In a separate bowl, combine maple syrup, oil, and salt. Combine both mixtures and pour onto 2 sheet pans (I used one). Cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to achieve an even color. Remove from oven and transfer into a large bowl. Add raisins and mix until evenly distributed.

32 Weeks & Baby V's Room

Update;
How Far Along: 32 weeks!
Size of baby: Baby Vander Velde weighs 3.75 lbs and is 16.7 inches long!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 28 lbs
Maternity Clothes: Most of my wardrobe!
Gender: It’s a BOY; name will be chosen when we see him!
Movement: Very active & he is very low already!
Sleep: Sleep is okay.
What I miss: Energy!
Cravings: Jell-O (we are going through it like hot cakes!) & Milk! Also, Dave’s drink of choice (alcohol) is Jack & Root beer or Coke, I am not a Whisky girl at all…BUT…all I want to do when he makes his drinks is smell the Jack! I am in love with it! Crazy, I know!
Symptoms: Sciatic nerve pain, acid reflux & major heartburn!
Best Moment of the Week: We had a doctor’s appointment last night! Everything is great; baby is low & heads it down, heart rate was great! I am also happy that the baby room is finished, besides wall décor.
Baby V's room;
Here is his closet! He has quite the collection of clothes already!
Dave did a wonderful job painting the room! The only thing left is a few wall hangings & the letters for his name will go above his crib, which of course we can't get until we see him!The wonderful Dresser & hutch! Dave did a great job on it! The drawers are all organized and stocked with clothes, socks, bibs, burp clothes, wash clothes, etc... I just have to finish putting the stuff on the shelves, like books, picture frames, etc...
I am also in love with this chair! Our wonderful neighbors are letting us borrow it! It's so comfortable!I am really pleased with everything & how it turned out! We may still get a changing table, but not sure yet. We rarely used a changing table for Gavin! The plan was to put the changing pad on the dresser, but with the hutch on it there isn't much room!

The Weekend

What an exciting weekend we had!
Friday evening was pretty low key around here, but we play some intense games of hide & seek :)Saturday Dave, Gavin & I went out to lunch with our neighbors to Great Dane and then we all headed to Popovich Pet Comedy Theater at the Overture Center! It was a cute show and the boys enjoyed it!
Sunday was obviously the Super Bowl!! We headed over to Carlo & April's for the game! We had a great time and I am still in shock that the Packers won!

Our Snow Day!

Yesterday was anything but uneventful around here! The blizzard of 2011 brought a lot of activity for our family! By 9am Dave and Gavin were both anxious and excited to get outside in the snow and start tackling our driveway! I’m not exactly sure how much snow we got, but we had 4ft drifts in some spots!After clearing our driveway and playing in the snow for 2+ hours we came in and made Jell-O Gigglers that had been setting up! Gavin only likes Jell-O when you make it in the giggler form! We then people watched out of our front window as neighbors cleared their driveway and the plow came though (the plow got stuck numerous times on our street), leaving Dave to plow the end of our driveway again! Dave also made Gavin a snow fort!After that we ventured out to ROYAL to help clear snow with Papa! Gavin got to sit in the tractor with Papa for over an hour plowing snow! He loved it and he declared last night that it was his favorite part of the day!When we got home we made cookies and then Gavin and Jackson played in the snow for quite some time. For dinner last night we went to the Pizza Hut Buffet! I feel like we were inside yesterday for a total of 2 hours before we called it a night!
And because of that, we all slept pretty good last night :)

Last Night & 31 Weeks!

Before I do the 31 week update I have to tell you what happened last night;
After dinner Dave said he was going to run to Target for a few things. I decided to go with him and also pick up a few things before the big snowfall came! He and Gavin were in the car in the driveway waiting for me to come out, it always seems to take me a little longer to get ready to leave the house, especially lately! Anyways…as I opened the door in the garage to go outside I almost had a heart attack. Looking me in the eyes was a RACCOON! Ah... I screamed so loud and slammed the door so hard that Dave heard me from in the car. He got out coming to see what the matter was. As he came to the door I wouldn’t let him in the house. I was screaming, “There is a raccoon in the garage!!!!” He didn’t believe me. He said it was probably just a cat because we have had our neighbors stinkin cat in our garage a few times! I told him I know what I saw; we looked each other in the eyes! He looked around the garage and he said he didn’t see anything. He finally convinced me to get in the car! As he walked me to the car I didn’t see any tracks in the snow where it would have ran out of the garage! I told him the raccoon was still inside!! We sat in the car looking in the garage for it and HE FINALLY SAW IT!!!! It for sure was a raccoon & I wasn’t losing my mind! Dave went over to the neighbor’s house to see if he had anything to help us catch or kill the thing! Dave & Chris, both were in the garage with shovels and anything else they could find to try and get the thing!After a little while Chris finally got it and killed it! He took the raccoon and put it in the back of his truck to take to work and get rid of it. I was so relieved. I am deathly afraid of raccoons. They freak the crap out of me! After we got back from Target Dave went back over to the neighbors to help him with the leak he had. As he walked pass Chris’s truck he looked to see where the raccoon was and he couldn’t find it! He asked Chris if he had done something different with it and he said no, that he just put it in the back of his truck. IT WASN’T THERE! The coon was alive; it escaped and is probably in someone else’s garage now! GROSS.
Update;
Excuse my clothes, it's a comfy day around here! How Far Along: 31 weeks!

Movement: Very active, I can tell that he is getting tighter and tighter in there!

Cravings: Quite the difference from last week! This past week and weekend I have not had an appetite at all!
