Summer is coming to an end.

We had a very nice weekend! Friday night David, Gavin and I went out for ice cream. I love love love going out for ice cream! It is a special treat for us. Usually you would find us digging into the gallon of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream we keep in the freezer at home :) so when we go out for ice cream it is a special treat. Especially for Gavin!

Saturday I went to Neenah to spend the day with my mom and sister. Something I haven't done in a long time! Usually David and or Gavin are always with me. Don't get me wrong, I love when they are with me and come too, so does my family, but I got to spend the day alone with just my mom and sister. It was really special to me and something I hope we can do more often! We went out to lunch and shopping the entire day! And my mom is NOT a shopper! But she was a trooper and seemed to have a wonderful time with her girls!
David and Gavin spent Saturday with Mom and Dad VV! David commented to me later that evening that Gavin was the best he had ever seen him! David said that Gavin sat and played so nicely and was so content the entire day, and he was polite in saying his manners all day! YAH GAVIN!!

Today (Sunday) we ran our errands and went grocery shopping! I also had a few things on my 'honey-to-do-list' for David. I had brought home a table on Saturday that my mom, nor my sister wanted. So I decided to take it! I asked David if he would sand it down for me today! We then primed it and painted it! Tomorrow I am going to rough up the edges a little bit, just to give it the 'warn country' look! So far it looks pretty good, I will post a picture of the before and after when we are all finished with it!
Here are a few pictures of us roasting marshmallows outside this evening;
You can tell that summer is definately coming to an end here is Madison! Tonight we are supposed to have FROST! Oh how I love FALL!

Stubborness

Last night for dinner I had made a quick hamburger and noodle skillet, just like hamburger helper;
Hamburger & Noodle Skillet Dinner (tastefully simple recipe) - Very Good!
Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
1 Tbsp. Garlic Garlic™
1 Tbsp. Onion Onion™
1 tsp. Seasoned Salt
1 tsp. black pepper
10.75 oz. can cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream
3/4 cup milk
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
4 cups cooked wide egg noodles

Well...Gavin, being the stubborn kid he is, would not take one single bite. He said he didn't like it. But how can you say you don't like it without even trying it? Boggles my mind! I understand that he is 2 1/2 and he may not like every single thing we make. But he is old enough to eat people food and old enough where I am not going to sit in the kitchen and make a special meal just for him every single night. I agree there are some nights where I know for a fact he will not eat what I am making, so then I will make him his own dinner. But come on...It's like hamburger helper! So was it really bad of David and I for making Gavin sit at the table until he had at least one bite of his dinner? We told him that if he had one bite and he still didn't like it then he didn't have to eat it, but at least he had tried it! Well...Gavin did not budge! He wouldn't try it for the life of him! What a stubborn little fella! Wonder where he gets that from?!!
He did not end up eating dinner last night and he did not get dessert either. Instead he had a peanut butter sandwich before bed last night!
-----------
Yesterday I had made Beer Bread for our new neighbors that moved into the neighborhood. I had called David that afternoon to ask him if he wanted me to just go drop it off or if he wanted to come too. He told me to wait and that we would go after dinner to drop it off. Well..after our long dinner fiasco with Gavin, we saw that the neighbors were not home any longer. So I got hungry last night and decided to unwrap the nicely wrapped beer bread and cut into it...OPPS!! Looks like I will be making another beer bread this afternoon!

Would You Rather Wednesday!!

I'm going to start putting a Would You Rather question up every Wednesday! Have you ever played this game or thought about would you rather questions? It really gets you thinking sometimes! So...To start out the first Would You Rather Wednesday here is the questions;

Would you rather be able to read everyone’s mind all the time or always know their future?

You are more then welcome to comment on the blog and let me know what you would rather do, or else just have fun with the question!

I would probably have to say that I would rather know their future!
Has anyone seen The Time Traveler's Wife?
I have not, but I really want to! Maybe that would put my answer into perspective!

We took a trip to the zoo yesterday afternoon. And...Guess who else took a feild trip to the zoo...THE AMISH!Ah..I love the Amish!
I also saw this rock at the zoo;I want it so bad! Maybe I can talk my husband into making one for us!
Gavin decided to go my on carousel instead of the train! It seems like he always picks the tiger too!Can I just say that I LOVE the Madison zoo!
Last night we had Rosati's for dinner and then we played a little Wii! My dad got pretty into it, which was a shock to David and I! It was also pretty comical! And then Gavin decided he wanted to do some boxing before he went to bed!

My 1st Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
This is my first NOT ME! MONDAY! I am trying it out and we will see how it goes! This is where I spill my guts about this past week and tell you things that I would never do, even though I did it :)
So here we go...
This past week when Gavin started to go pee like a big boy (standing up) I did not put fruit loops in the toilet so he could aim at them, and I certainly did not flush the toilet; 1, to save water and 2, so we wouldn't waste fruit loops for the next time around, Nope, Not Me!!

When I ran errand on Friday afternoon I definately did not leave all the windows open in the house so it rain in, nope, Not Me!!

This Sunday at Taryn and Reagan's 1st Birthday Party we did not leave with Gavin kicking and screaming because he was sad to leave, nope, Not Me!!

I hope you enjoyed my 1st Not Me! Monday!

Date Night

Last night David and I had a date night! It was well over due and frankly we needed it, doesn't every couple?! We went out to dinner and then to the movie 'The Proposal'. It was such a good movie, romantic and hilarious! I highly recommend it!
Gavin had a fun evening with Grammy and Papa last night. When leaving their house to come home we took some cucumbers that they picked from their garden. Gavin LOVES cucumbers, and usually eats a whole one by himself. Anyways Gavin had a cucumber in his hand the entire way home, and he even wanted to sleep with it last night. He didn't let go of that cucumber until this morning when he woke up from the thunder and lightning. Today we had Taryn and Reagan's 1st Birthday Party! It was alot of fun and I will post pictures of that later!

Nightly Prayers.

For about three months now (I know, it should have been sooner) we have been doing bedtime prayers with Gavin. We start out by thanking God for everything that he has given us, we go through every family member and close friends, we then do prayer reguests and after that we wrap it up with asking Gavin if he is thankful for anything else. Every night he usually has 2 or 3 extra things that he is thankful for. And these are all random things! One night he goes, "Dear God thanks you for Mike, he is my best friend." Very Random! He usually always says, "Dear God, Thank you for Lily." And Last night was a different and new one that he has never said before..."Dear God, Thank you for wipeout." I tried so hard not to laugh because we are trying to teach Gavin that prayer time is a serious time. It was so cute and he was so serious! He never seems to amaze me. I need to start writing down his 'personal' prayers and documenting them!

In other news...Until last week Gavin had no idea what a sleeping bag was. He loves his sleeping bag and I wanted to share a few pictures of him playing in it.Also, this week has been Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. I have to admit we are a little addicted to it! We have been catching a few episodes of stuff here and there and everytime we have time to watch it we are glued to the t.v. it is soo interesting!

Brain Quest

This past winter, right after Gavin's seconds birthday, we had gotten him Brain Quest. We started with My First Brain Quest ages 2-3 and then got Brain Quest for Threes ages 3-4. We would do them every now and then but not frequently just because Gavin was never that interested in them. Until now that is, he LOVES them! We fly through them at least twice a day! He has always enjoyed doing flash cards and stuff like that, but for the past week or so Brain Quest is all he wants to do! Fine by me :) I often find him trying to teach himself and I will hear, "which two are the same" or this morning he goes, "I'm doing my homework, mom" That was a new one I've never heard out of his mouth before! Shocker, but cute! Anyways...I highly recommend Brain Quest for little ones!
