The Very Hungry Caterpillar Birthday Party

Grant’s 1st Birthday was wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for a better day. The Very Hungry Caterpillar theme was so much fun to do! So many things you can do with it.
Details;
We blew up 3 of his 1st Birthday pictures 4ftx3ft ($6.99 at Office Max in black & white) and Dave made frames for them. These were our main decoration for the party! I LOVED them! For $6.99 the quality was superb & they made a statement!
I got most of the other decorations from Target. I LOVE their new party line SPRITZ. It’s great quality, cheap & fun! I did make the tissue caterpillar myself & I’m very pleased with how it turned out!
We had everyone at the Party sign his book;The favors for the party were the Lollipops & The Very Hungry Caterpillar coloring pages.I only did the food that the caterpillar ate in the book, which was a lot of fun!
Dessert table; Chocolate cake, cherry pie & cupcake ice cream cones!Birthday Boy;Grant got amazing gifts. Lots of summer clothes (which he needed desperately), swimming suit, Step 2 picnic table, motorcycle, little tikes blower & push turtle, 1st crayola markers, bath essentials, a super cute hawaiian outfit & crocs from my godparents who just returned from Hawaii & money for his piggy bank!
Grant's smash cake.
Lastly we had everyone at the party take a picture with Grant! Loved doing this, I wish we would do this for every party.
Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate him, we are so blessed! Sorry for those who couldn't make it; we missed you!!

Birthday Boy!

Happy 1st Birthday to Grant!
The joy you brought into our life 1 year ago today is indescribable. Your birth story is still fresh in my mind. Walking around at 5 1/2 cm for 2 weeks turned me into a crazy person! My doctor said she wouldn't let me walk around at 6cm, but that little 1/2cm drove me CRAZY! 1 yr ago today I walked into the doctors office in tears because I couldn't do it anymore! She checked me, lo and behold, I was 6cm & you arrived shortly after! We are so blessed to have you in our life, I couldn't imagine it any other way!
Here are some of his 1st Birthday Pictures that Dad VV took;
Unfortunately Grant is not being himself today :( He is teething bad. He's had a cough & diarrhea this week due to it. He also had a fever since yesterday, so I took him into the doctor this morning just to make sure he didn't have anything else wrong. No ear infections or anything was wrong & of course he didn't have a fever when I took him in either! He just isn't acting himself today, which sitnks :(
We're looking forward to his Birthday Party though & hoping he is more himself by then! The theme is The Very Hungry Caterpillar - It's so fun to plan. And of course I had to test taste one of the Lollipops that will be part of the favor;It was good.
Happy 1st Birthday Grant!!!!!!!!

Little Things.

I love the little things in my days that make it all that more specail.
Like when we gave Grant chalk for the first time. He likes it. Although he still thinks it's food...Maybe he liked it a little too much?---
Or when I get this sweet little card & coffee cozy from my dear friend, just because.-
It's the little things that mean the most.
2 days & Grant will be 1!! Can't wait to celebrate our little boy!

Hot Mess Weekend

This weekend was; powerful, motivating, beneficial, inspiring, Godly, I could go on & on...
Heartland, our church, hosted our first ever Mom's Confrence! Hot Mess Moms was the title/theme for the confrence, because we all know that we can be an utter HOT MESS quite often :) Friday evening we had the pleasure of having Shauna Niequist come & speak to us! She was sooo inspiring!! Look her up. get her books(Cold Tangerines & Bittersweet). read them. & be changed!! seriously. Saturday we had the wonderful Jodi Hickerson join us! She is such an amazing teacher, so down to earth & full of knowledge! If you ever get the chance to attend a Moms Confrence - DO IT! You won't regret it!
Saturday afternoon we had Caleb's 2nd Birthday Party. It was adorable. The theme was; Things That Go - so fun!
In between the hustle & bustle of Saturday we took a quick trip to Sam's & Costco. Dave & Gavin with 50lbs of rice. Yes, we bought it. Not for us. For Nicole :)
Saturday evening we headed to church for Compassion Weekend. Our church is now partnered with Compassion Interntional! Dave & I volunteered with our church & compassion to help get these wonderful kids sponsered!!
I would love to introduce our new sponsor child to you! Meet Willy; Willy turns 5 on March 20th. He lives in Niarobi, Kenya! It was emotional & extremely neat for both Dave & I to do this. Knowing that we took a child & his family out of poverty is just crazy to us!! Wish we could do it for more. We can't wait for the day that Dave & I can travel to Kenya to meet Willy & his family!!
