Caramel Puff Popcorn

It has been freezing here the last couple of weeks! I shouldn't say freezing because it's no where near as cold as it's going to get this winter! We turned our heat on for the first time two days ago. It was making a funny smell too, so I turned it off and opened the windows. The smell was making me sick to my stomache! My husband explained to me that it was normal for it to make a smell the first time. I guess I forgot it was brand new. I sure am missing having my windows open though, and now I don't even want to turn the heat on to smell that aweful smell again! I wish it was Fall and we had 60 degree weather instead of 40 degree weather! There is still stuff on our list that we wanted to do this fall and I doubt we will get it done because it has been chilly!
I made one of our (Mine and Gavin's) favorite fall snacks last week! Caramel Puff Popcorn!I got this recipe a few years ago from a dear friend and this year I can't seem to keep Gavin's fingers out of it! I made two big batched of it and this is all that is left :( It is not the greateset snack for you either, oh well :) David is not a big fan of it because it gets stuck in your teeth!!
Caramel Puff Popcorn
1 -8oz bag of Puff Popcorn
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. backing soda

Place popcorn in a large roasting pan and set aside (I like to use the foil roasting pans you can buy at the store and throw it away after).Melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in 2qt. pan until it is bubbly around the edges. Remove from the heat and add baking soda (this causes the foamig and will allow for proper coating) Pour caramel coating over the popcorn and stir together until everything is covered and coated. Place in 250 degree oven for 45 minutes, stiring the popcorn every 10 minutes. Remove from oven and pour on waxed paper. Break the popcorn apart before it cools. Enjoy!
