How Do I Know God's Will For My Life?

I was readiing John Ortbeg's Blog this morning and I just needed to share it with you!

The main points that stood out to me;

God’s main purpose for you is not what you do. Its who you become.

To grow into an excellent person, you have to make choices, exercise judgment, take responsibility, and learn.

How do I know God’s will for my life?
–Live this day in an open, repentant spirit.
–Understand that living in God’s will often means I must make decisions.
–Pray constantly, regularly asking for wisdom in small moments, without placing pressure on God to give any particular kind of response.
–”Let your life speak”: Parker Palmer wrote a wonderful book by this title from an old Quaker saying; if you look at the trajectory of your life with simplicity and openess certain patterns will emerge that will help you understand your shape and gifts and longings
–Have wise, godly people speak into your life with love and truth
–Be willing to make mistakes and learn from them quicker rather than slower
–Have a mind immersed with great thoughts from Scripture
–Practice making decisions and learning from them all day long
–Live in freedom and joy. Trust God that He can guide you into His will without your obsessing over it.

Gavin Lightyear to the rescue!

Gavin is all about Toy Story lately! We can't wait for June 18th to roll around! We are taking Gavin to the theater for the first time to go see Toy Story 3! Our church rented part of Eastgate Cinema for the opening night of Toy Story 3! While Gavin was staying with my mom and dad this past weekend my mom found these super cute pajamas! He has a pair of Woody Pj's and a pair of Buzz Pj's! I think Buzz is his favorite, so far!

My Busy Weekend

This past weekend was insanely busy and crazy! Friday evening Dave and I went down to Rockford for A Night To Remember. A Night To Remember is a Prom for special needs students in that area! It is put on by our church in Rockford and it is the most amazing thing EVER! Dave and I had a great time and we are so blessed that we could even be a little part of this event! We were a part of the paparazzi who stood on the red carpet, who cheered, clapped, and took pictured of all the students as they got out of the limos and headed to the dinner! Saturday morning I headed to Minneapolis for Jen's Bachelorette Party! Jen's sister and I have been planning her shower for quite some time now & it was great to get there and see it all come together! We rented a suite at the Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis and had a lingerie shower for Jen before we got on the bus to take us around town for the night! So Fun. Here are some pictures of the night!

Sunday morning I woke up at 5am to get on the road to come home! I wanted to be home for Mothers Day and I wanted to make it home in time for church! We had Mike Breaux at our church this week to speak so I for sure wanted to make it home for that! I was one tired Mommy on Mother's Day! On Mother's Day we had lunch with my mom and dad and then headed to Dave's mom and dad's house for a little while!

I got very nice cards and very nice gifts. For our wedding Dave had given be diamond earings and recently the back to one of the earings broke :( But we have insurance on the earings and Dave surprised me with a brand new pair!! Gavin got me Flowers, he made me a cake and I also got a one hour massage! It was a great day!

Clearwater Beach

While we were vacationing in Florida we decided to go to the beach for a day! We headed to the Gulf side and went to Clearwater Beach, FL! I am so glad we decided to go there. It was beautiful, fun and family friendly! Here are pictures of our time in Clearwater Beach;
We got to watch the dolphins for awhile! They got so close to shore too!Here I am, below, trying to find some seashells! We got to bring home a good amount of them! There was a lady on the beach who just looked for shells all day and at the end of the day lets others take them home! She found really neat ones too! It took us a good 30+ hours to let our shells sit in bleach to clean them and not have them stink! Oh, it was such an awful smell but soo worth it!

Magic Kingdom

We're Home! Florida was wonderful and we had a great time! We are sad to leave the nice warm weather but we are very glad to be home! Here are pictures of our day at Magic Kingdom.
